Along with some other lovely bloggers in Dorset I was invited for a spectacular Fireworks display and a bed and breakfast package courtesy of The Thistle. The weather, being the UK, was of course pretty dismal on Bonfire Night this year, and therefore with regret the planned boat trip around the Quay to accompany the fireworks had to be cancelled. However, it certainly didn't dampen our spirits, and we boarded our luxury boat above and were treated to drinks and nibbles as we watched the most spectacular firework display.
I used to go to the Poole Quay fireworks a lot as a child but you often end up being quite squished and as such a teeny tiny person it's difficult to get a good view! This however was such a special way to watch the incredible display. After the fireworks display we were then treated to a 3-course meal and breakfast package. They catered really well for allergies like myself and I enjoyed a melon starter, salmon main course and fruit salad to finish. The next morning you can enjoy a full continental breakfast with a stunning view of Poole Harbour where you can spot across the Quay a view dotted with islands, including Brownsea, (famous as the birthplace of the Scouting movement) and across to dry land you can see a lovely view of the Purbeck hills and glorious Dorset countryside.
Thank you so much to the Thistle Hotel for allowing me to celebrate Fireworks night in such a spectacular way! If you fancy a getaway to Poole, or a trip to the South Coast, this hotel is a great base from which to explore.
