My Little Provence Box, My Little Box May 2015

Provence is a geographical region and historical province of in the South of France which extends from the lower Rhône River on the west, the Italian border on the east, and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea on the south. To say it's beautiful is an understatement, and it's in fact quite possibly one of my favourite places in the world. The picturesque villages and endless lavender filled fields are just dreamy beyond words. This month My Little Box have created their May box with an aim to be encapsulate this Provence dreaminess into their latest box, with items that instantly transport you to the serenity and beauty of Provence.

I know a few people felt a little disappointed with the beauty bits this month. They are mostly L’Occitane products from the Verbana range. Verbena is a beautiful aromatic herb with a lemony freshness that grows in Provence, and the divine, freshly harvested green verbena leaves, has a distinctive fragrance that fills the air around the markets of Provence.

I think this range is perfect for a box capturing the beauty of Provence, but I think the general consensus was that they looked nothing more than hotel samples. Said samples included: Roses et Reines Hand and Nail Cream, Mer and Mistral Fresh Shower Gel, Verbena Leaf Soap and a Verbena Body Lotion. Whilst it may not be 100% original I do really like all the samples and they are going to be so handy for my travels this year so I’m a happy girl. L’Occtaine is a very luxurious brand, so synonymous with French beauty, and for me the selection would be the perfect Provence weekend companions.

The last beauty gift is a stunning Eye Crayon, 'Crayon Epatant', from the My Little Corner beauty range, the sister of My Little Box, and where you can purchase the products featured in the box separately (it is however only available to purchase currently for French customers). It’s a very beautiful bronzey, deep brown with the slightest hint of shimmer. It’s so lovely smudged over the eye for an easy smokey look, or you can use it to gently line your eyes. It’s such a versatile little item you could create endless looks with and is ideal for on-the-go beauty. It’s however not highly original which is actually good because if you’re not subscribed you’ll be able to get this easily at the drugstore. Collection springs to mind as a brand that I can see doing a good dupe.

The lifestyle bits are so lovely this month! We start with a postcard beautifully illustrated by Kaneko with a quote by Yvan Audouard. Tucked underneath is the monthly ‘My Little World’ magazine. Just like last month it’s in a huge pull out form which is okay, but I do prefer the regular magazine version they had before.

The main lifestyle gift this month is a darling DIY Gold Stitched Cuff. This is such a sweet thing to include and so simple! This would be fun to take on your holidays as it’s very easy to do, satisfyingly so, and you’ll be able to create something very on trend in no time. I hope my Little Box do more DIYs like this. As well as the DIY kit there’s also a Dress Up Doll magnet sheet. I used to LOVE these as a child. It’s a very retro, sweet thing to include and the old soul in me absolutely loves things like this!

Overall I really liked this box as I feel it truly does encapsulate this part of France. But what did you think of my Little Provence Box? Did it capture the beautiful Provence area so much that you want to visit?

My Little Box is £11 plus £3.95 P+P (as always just to reiterate that I'm a subscriber so this isn't a PR sample). A new box is sent every month and you can cancel whenever you like.

  1. This is such an interesting idea for a subscription box - very clever and different I think! I've tried only one L’Occitane product but I was pretty impressed with it myself!

That magnet paper doll is SO. PRECIOUS and fun!

  2. What an amazing box, the whole theme is super cute! And that soaps sounds incredibly interesting! xx

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I love to hear what you all think and I try and get back to everyone :) xoxo
