If there's one thing Benefit Cosmetics know well it's a) how to create the ultimate amount of buzz and excitement in the beauty world, and b) make a good mascara! However I was quite surprised when I heard the news of an exciting mascara launch from Benefit because I wondered how on earth they could better the infamous, and apparently number one selling mascara around 'They're Real'. I have tried the latter before and it really is a fantastic mascara, but I find it a bit too much for my sensitive eyes as it really does take a lot of patience and energy to remove! And so in swoops 'Roller Lash' Mascara, Benefit's latest mascara which is marketed for those that want the ultimate curled and lifted look for their lashes.
Like many, I picked up the mini size in January's UK ELLE magazine, and after testing it since then (perfect size for travel!) I've come to the conclusion that it's a very good mascara indeed. But the best mascara ever? Not the best ever, no, and honestly I do think the drugstore has many wonderful offerings such as my beloved 17 Superlash mascara. There is however not much I can fault about it, but I don't ignore the fact it is pretty pricey and as I say, you could perhaps find an as good dupe. But what Roller Lash sets out to do is curl your lashes so much you don't even need eye lash curlers. Well, the photo above shows my lashes with just the mascara with no eye lash curler prior to application and I'm very impressed! The curling element is the main selling point, and marketing element for this mascara. I love the packaging with the imitation retro-velcro roller lid which provides a playful touch Benefit do oh-so-well. Roller Lash also makes your eyelashes look inconceivably long, and similarly to 'They're Real' it's a flexible mascara wand with small rubber hooks that gently grab your lashes and don't irritate. It's a lot easier to remove than 'They're Real', but you don't get a huge amount of volume or black intensity of colour and when I look for a mascara this is the big thing I look for. Otherwise, both 'They're Real' and 'Roller Lash' are similar. Together however I think they would probably make the perfect mascara!
Overall I'd definitely recommend this mascara, they for sure know what they're doing at Benefit, but is it possible to find the same for a more budget friendly price? Possibly, yes.
Has anyone tried Roller Lash? If so, what do you think? Or what's your current favourite mascara? It currently retails for £19.50 and for more information click here.
