Favourites: August 2013

Ahhh guys, I haven't made a favourites post for MONTHS! I really don't know how this happened really, so let me make up for it and tell you allll about my August favourites. When you've finished reading, please share with me what you've been loving as I do love a good ol' favourites post :).
Anti Frizz by Yuko Leave In Conditioner
1. Anti Frizz by Yuko Leave In Conditioner

When I went to the Company Blog Awards I was given a very lovely goody bag and one of the products was this leave in conditioner from a brand called Yuko. I've never heard of this brand but I think they are US based but the actual product has been made in Japan. The idea behind this product is that when used with heat it activates the  leave-in conditioner properties which in turn utilises a unique blend of natural plant oils for detangling and deeply revitalizing the hair while heat styling further enhances the effects of the oils. Strangely enough as a beauty girl and all I've never used a leave in conditioner as I always imagined them to be a little pointless and weigh hair down but the effect of this on my hair is so beautiful and it makes my hair so glossy when I use it. I would highly recommend it!
Jason Aloe Vera Gel
2.Jason Aloe Vera Gel

If there's one thing everyone should keep in their bathroom cabinet it's aloe vera gel. I really like the Jason aloe vera gel but honestly they all do the same job. Throughout the summer I have used this to calm a bit of sunburn I had (thanks stupid 'SPF 50' for letting me down, grr!), and believe it or not, blemishes! Aloe vera gel is also fantastic for dry, irritated, sun damaged or newly shaven skin and also contains nourishing Allantoin and Vitamin B5 replenish and recondition skin. It's a very simple but rather wonderful wonder-product I definitely forgot how amazing it was.
Good Things Bright Eyes eye cream
3. Good Things Bright Eyes eye cream

They always refer to the skin around your eyes being like tissue paper so it's really important to treat the area very gently. I've used so many eye creams over the years but I always seem to run out and then head to Boots and pick up any old random one. Well lately said random eye cream is from the Good Things range called 'Bright Eyes'. I do really like the Good Things range because it's super affordable but conscious in terms of their ingredients and ethics. This eye cream has skin-calming raspberry and clarifying lychee, plus a tri-peptide that is proven to tackle puffiness and dark circles. I don't really have under eye issues particularly but I think this is a very simple, pleasant eye cream. Not revolutionary, but definitely helps to keep the eye area bright and I like it a lot for that!
Batiste Dry Shampoo
4. Batiste Dry Shampoo

This is yet another Company Blog Awards goody bag product and don't worry I'm not about to tell you how amazing Batiste dry shampoo is because it's been a beauty staple for years and years and years and in fact, I have grown up with it really like I'm sure so many of you have (anyone else remember the green packaging with the lady on?) but sometimes you forget how good a product is and I definitely felt this about Batiste. I've used it such a lot lately just on my roots to add volume and it's pretty fab to be honest, and cheap, oh so cheap!
Soap and Glory Lid Stuff 'What's Nude' Eye shadow palette
5. Soap and Glory Lid Stuff 'What's Nude' Eye shadow palette

I have completely loved this palette lately for just easy peasy 5 minute eyes. Only problem is I've completely hit pan on the creamy shade but I use it with MAC's Vanilla eye shadow and I love it, love it. Perfect for travel or if you're just getting in to make up. I did a whole little review yonks ago here if you would like to see some swatches.
Botanics Ultra Calm Skin Relief Serum
6. Botanics Ultra Calm Skin Relief Serum

So you all know me as the pale redheaded creature that I am and whilst I adore my paleness and embrace it the only thing I'm not so keen on is the redness that can be a problem. I do have rosacea which is an annoying skin condition but I have found that eating the right foods and using a redness relief product does wonders. Lately I picked out the Botantics ultra calm serum and I flippin love it! I wasn't expecting to at all, but I love it I truly do. This product is scientifically proven to reduce skin sensitivity in 2 weeks and when you use it, it immediately calms the skin. It works due to being enriched with calming marshmallow for sensitive skin and liquorice and linden flower which reduces redness. I also find it great under make up and also for the odd blemishes. Definitely not one to over look and I like using it with....
Botanics Shine Away Mattifying Day Cream SPF 15
7. Botanics Shine Away Mattifying Day Cream SPF 15

....with this! I have really enjoyed using the above product with this moisturiser from Botanics which I picked up on a whim due to needing a moisturiser asap and having some Botanics vouchers in my purse but wow, how glad I am because this thing is a little beauty gem! If you suffer from combination/sensitive skin with an oily t-zone this is perfect. It sinks in instantly and leaves the skin perfectly balanced. Great for under make up. The only thing I hate? The jar packaging. I much prefer a tube for moisturisers, am I alone?
Carex Strawberry Laces Hand Wash
8. Carex Strawberry Laces Hand Wash

This is such a random favourite but I just ADORE this hand wash from Carex because it smells of strawberry laces and it just brings back wonderful childhood memories :).
Balance Me 'Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm'
9. Balance Me 'Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm'

So like so many I love reading Caroline Hiron's blog and was in the market for a new make up removing balm and when I read Caroline's review of the Balance Me cleansing balm I was completely sold and so whilst in Waitrose picked it up when it was 20% off. It really is the very best cleanser I have ever used in my life. I could just rave on and on....and on, so I'm going to review it next week for you all!
10. 'Brand New Day' by Kodaline

Finally my music song of the moment. Lately I have loved, loved, loved Kodaline and their new track 'Brand New Day' is my absolute favourite. It's a really bright, instantly catchy tune and I'm so happy to see them doing so well because they're fantastic. Nuff said!

So that's my August favourites. Sad to see summer go but I do love autumn so it will be lovely to embrace the darker shades and the beautiful things the season brings.

  1. I looked at that Botanics moisturiser but put it back the other day and went for another brand instead - regretting it now! The calm relief serum sounds fab too!
