Favourites: May 2013

May has just been such a mad hectic month with many wonderful times and yet equally sad times too. Here's a look at some of my favourite things.
girls' night in hannah read-baldrey
1. Girls' Night In: Crafts, Cakes and Cocktails for the Ultimate Party by Hannah Read-Baldrey

In May I stumbled across one of my most favourite books which is Hannah Read- Baldrey's 'Girls' Night In'. It's literally perfection and is crammed with the most beautiful craft, recipes and beauty how tos for the ultimate girls' night in. It's just your perfect night/day in BFF. In fact, it's so fabulous, I could review it? Let me know if this is of interest.

2. Yumi Blue Bow Handbag

I can get a teeny lazy with changing over my handbags but as soon as spring and summer are here I like to carry around smaller bags in lighter colours. This little Yumi bag is just perfect and one I have used ever since I first found it here. Although this exact bag is no longer available check out Yumi's Spring/Summer 2013 range of bags here.
topshop flamingo coral nail polish
3. Topshop 'Flamingo Coral' Nail Polish

This is summer in a little bottle of nail polish! A lush pink coral that screams sunshine. I like clashing it with my pale skin and turquoise jewels. Huge love for Topshop polishes. Check it out for yourself here
benefit bad gal lash
4. Benefit Bad Girl Lash

Back in April I was a very lucky girl to go to Bournemouth Benefit's 'Fake Up' event and we were all kindly given a sample of Bad Gal mascara in our goody bags. I have used this donkey years ago but forgot how lovely it is. The brush is a little intimidating but I really loved the natural look it has given my lashes and as I have done a wee bit of travelling this month, it has come in handy for that.
mac vanilla eye shadow
5. MAC 'Vanilla' Eyeshadow

Whilst many go crazy for MAC's infamous 'Vanila' pigment I'm more of an eye shadow fan. I simply adore this eye shadow as it just does so, so much. It's a matte pale creamy vanilla and I use it to highlight my brow bone, in the inner corners, all over the lid for a natural look or to create the perfect 50s look and above my lip to highlight. It's just pure magic and doesn't get raved about enough. For my pale girlies too, I use this every day under my eye with a fluffy brush and it's much better than concealer sometimes, though you can even use it to set concealer too. Love it, love it.
topshop pink make up brushes
6. Topshop Pink Make Up Brushes

I saw these in Topshop recently and fell in love because I mean they're PINK brushes, what isn't to like? Other than their beautiful look they do also work a treat. I am obsessed with make up brushes and don't really go on price point too much because I find cheap ones work just as well as pricey ones (I mean, I use to use paint brushes, so not fussy, me ;) ). I particularly like the stippling brush for foundation which is fabulous, but I'm longing for eye brushes now for my collection. You can gander at the range here
mac cosmetics kiss and don't tell lipgloss
 7. MAC Archie Girls Betty 'Kiss & Don't Tell' Lipgloss

I LOVE this lipgloss so much at the moment. Sadly it was LE from MAC's recent Archie Girls collection but the pinky-coral colour (noticing a trend this month with my favourites?) is gorgeous and the colour is so pigmented it gives a fantastic colour pay off. It really is the perfect summer lip colour that I'll be rocking throughout the summer.
hello kitty biscuits
8. M&S Hello Kitty Biscuits

On a recent trip to London I was stuck waiting hours for a train and so I found myself spending longer than I ever have before in the M&S food hall. Thus, imagine my sheer delight when I stumbled across these absolute beauts: HELLO KITTY BISCUITS!! Oh my, they simply are the cutest!! I have no idea if this is just a London thing but I'm obsessed and need more!
model own gold rush nail polish
 9. Model's Own 'Gold Rush' Nail Polish

I have actually just done a NOTD for this at the beach but I wanted to include it in my favourites post because it's such a stunning summery shade I loved wearing in May and it definitely deserved a mention. Click here to read the original post.

10. Vanessa Carlton

Sometimes I have quite a lot of admin that needs to be done with Beauxoxo and I find if I have good music on in the background it motivates me. This month I've re-connected with Vanessa Carlton's music. I love, love, love it when you go a while without listening to one of your favourite artists and then when you come back to their songs it's just so magical. I wouldn't know where to start picking a favourite (though no doubt you'll know her hit song 'A Thousand Miles') so I included a lovely mini interview above. I adore her.

So that's everything in May I have loved. Now, tell me what you loved too, please :).

xoxo
