REVIEW: ghd Style & Protect Gift Set and Everyday Hair Routine

ghd style and protect gift set
Hello my lovelies! A month or so ago I was sent a ghd Style and Protect gift set and I firstly want to apologise to the lovely Amy from Best British Bloggers for my late posting but as you all know, lately regular blogging has been a bit challenging! When Amy so kindly contacted me with the chance to review this ghd kit I was really excited as I grew up with the start of the whole ghd straightening craze and I was really curious to see how their product line matched up to their infamous hair straighteners.

So the ghd Style and Protect Gift Set comes packaged in a sleek black with their trademark gold lettering and consists of: A huge paddle brush, 2 clips, Straight & Smooth Spray and the Final Shine Spray for all-over glossy shine. I'm going to show you below how I used the products in the kit to complete one of my go-to straight styles, and best news? It takes less than 5 minutes!

How I styled my hair, the ghd way:

1. After washing my hair I gently towel dried my hair and then added 4-6 drops of the Straight and Smooth Spray which helps to de-frizz and smooth hair without weighing it down and the best thing for me is the added heat protector. I really dislike adding oils to my hair worrying if they're going to frazzle my hair when I style it! This also did a wonderful job of leaving my hair really glossy and soft.

2. Okay so if you're looking at the photos and this, then we're onto photo 1 where I blow dried my hair straight and then ran my straighteners over it very loosely and finally spritzed some of the Final Shine Spray all over. This is lovely stuff as it didn't make my hair greasy and it really helped reduce static in my hair as my hair suffers terribly from this! I also used a bit on the brush and that worked well as did applying a small bit to my hands and running it through.

3. I then added a little more of the Straight and Smooth Spray to the ends of the hair because I always do this when I style my hair, normally with a serum and this worked well however I do think the product works best on damp hair and it can be easy to add to much to dry hair.

4. Then in photo 3 this shows me straightening my hair using the clips which are so handy and I felt like I was at a hairdressers!! haha. The only thing is that for me and my thick hair they had a tendency to lose their grip and I would need a million of these really but still, very useful for detail straightening to get the odd bit of hair out of the way.

5. I then always shake my hair and just generally swish it about to make sure product has been distributed easily and it felt really soft and light-weight which I was surprised about. And then in photo 5 you can see the final result and I'm really surprised by the gloss and shine it gave to my hair as I could definitely tell and it feels lovely, but I do think you can see that ripple of shine in the photo, you know what I mean? I never know what to call it!

So overall I'm super impressed by the ghdstyling products and I would recommend this kit to anyone who likes straight hair but wants to keep the results for longer. For me the fact it keeps hair straight and glossy for a longer period of time is the best thing and random but the brush is flippin amazing, like seriously good and lately I reach for it over my Tangle Teezer as it's humongous and detangles my hair perfectly.

Has anyone else used ghd styling products as well as the straighteners? Would love to know what hair styling products you use? The ghd Style and Protect gift set retails at £39 and can be purchased here. But just a note to say the products can be purchased individually too which I think is good for those that just want one thing. For more hairstyles using the products I'm using click here.
