REVIEW: Enrapture Encode Totem Styler

If ever a product in beauty blogger world was more raved about it would be this for sure! Well, it’s certainly up there! I have heard so, so much about this styler from Enrapture lately and I was so convinced by the reviews I was on the verge of getting one myself, but coincidentally Enrapture contacted me recently to see if I would be interested in reviewing this product, and I of course said yes! I was stunned to be contacted as they have also let me review their jumbo waver before which I love and to be honest I didn’t feel worthy of reviewing such a prestigious thing, haha.

The totem styler, in essence, is hailed by Enrapture themselves as being, ‘the first ever luxury styler to feature three independent heat zones that allow you to encode your look and easily create ringlets, bohemian curls or soft waves and more.’ Very basically, the totem styler has, ‘three independent heat zones that can be set to different temperatures using the encoder dials for an array of fabulous styles depending on the code selected’. They go on to add that, ‘with one styler, you can create a multitude of distinctive styles, depending on the code combination selected. Simply encode your look for ringlets, bohemian curls or soft waves and more. You can also add a touch of glamour to an up-style.’ So for example, temperature setting 1= low so would achieve loose curls. Setting 2= medium and as it would suggest, creates a medium curl, whereas heat setting 3= high and will create super tight ringlet esque curls. So if you set all three dials to 1-1-1 you would get very loose, subtle waves. And then 2-2-3 would get slightly more formed waves, and 3-3-3 would probably get full on ringlets etc. When I saw this on other blogs I thought the numbers equalled some strange complex mathematical formula (but then I have dyscalculia so that happens often!) but it actually makes total sense when you have it in front of you!

With the above being said, I decided to test the looks in the little booklet that came with the styler rather than just try my own thing. I never normally read instruction booklets or guides but I feel super responsible for reviews and do things properly! Oh and just so you know I styled all three looks with handmade creations. I am NOT trying to do a shameless plug of my shop here, I just like wearing hair accessories, as you all know!

Bohemian 1-1-1 Wand

So the first look I tried was the Bohemian which simply needed dials 1-1-1 so this is a very, very subtle natural look. To get this style you just section large ish sections of hair to create the very loose waves you can see by just using the wand. To finish you can run your fingers through your hair. This is exactly what I did and got the above result. This is my favourite way to wear waves and curls and suits my hair type perfectly as it is a little thick and prone to frizz. I guess if your hair was super, super thick you could try 1-1-2. I finished the look off with a homemade hair garland which is actually from my shop. This is the perfect festival look!

Glamour 1-1-3 Flipper

I then tried out the glamour look by styling small sections with the heating setting 1 close to the roots and I used the flipper to get a more defined curl, which is the little springy contraption on the end! Now you could bump this up far more than I have, but to be honest I’m really not a fan of the very tight curls look as I resemble a poodle at a pageant show quite frankly! If you wanted to take this up a notch I would maybe use 2-2-3 or 2-3-3. Headpiece is again from my shop, but not right now, although very soon!

Voluminous 1-2-3 Flipper

The final look is to be honest something that is going to be very experimental. The idea for this look is that you style from the root using the flipper to get a very defined curls which you then brush out. Well to be honest this is probably a mix between the above two and it’s a very pretty mix. I wouldn't say it gave me much volume, I have to say I much prefer a good old backcombing brush for that. Yet again, head garland is by moi!

And so that’s just three looks with the totem styler but you know the best thing? The styling options on this little thing is literally limitless and I think that’s a) why it is constantly raved about and b) so popular in general. But would I recommend it? Well based on just those points alone I would have to say yes just because you could pretty much turn this thing on and every curly/wavy style you could desire will be achieved in no time at all. It heats up very quickly, hair does not feel frazzled afterwards and doesn’t snag the hair like so, so many stylers do with me! What is more it holds the curl or wave so effortlessly, with long lasting results. Huge, huge yay for just that alone as curls drop out of my hair sometimes instantly!

I think it’s safe to say I am a totem styler convert and I feel now no need for any other such products, except for of course, hot rollers, but that’s an entirely different result, in my opinion! I do own a Babyliss waving wand which I have loved for months and months but dare I say it, this is already being used so much more as it’s just so verstatile. I think versatile is how I would sum up the whole product really and why it’s so good.
So now you’ve read my rambles I want to hear from you. Do any of you own this styler? If not, do you want it, or if not, what’s your favourite curling/waving wand? For anymore information on the totem styler click here.

  1. I have a Babyliss conical wand, which I loved at first but it's not very versatile! I love curling my hair but hate using the conical wand as the barrel is so small it takes forever!
This looks perfect, I love 1-1-1 and 1-2-3 on you! xx

    1. Oooh yes that's the one I have actually not the waving wand. The looks you mentioned are my favourites too :)
