Hi, hi, hi! I’ve been massively MIA on my blog because I’ve been away on me holidays! I had a lovely time in the North visiting my family in Liverpool. The weather was pretty miserable, but I had such a very restful few days. Anyway, before I left for my trip, I had every best intention of setting up a whole lot of posts to go up automatically but then I kind of got a bit busy….and then I think I forgot….!
So here is an extremely belated review of this adorable little eye cream I was sent by Cellnique. Now I have been fortunate enough to try quite a few things from Cellnique over the years and they have one of the best beauty PRs of anyone I know. Today I am reviewing their new eye cream called, ‘I’m Dark Circle Reliever’ which I picked out. Now I never used to suffer with dark circles at all, but ever since I started a certain medication I suddenly suffer really badly from them. As I pretty much only drink water and have a very healthy diet, plus the fact I get tons of sleep it’s very annoying and so when Cellnique asked me what eye cream I wanted to try, I thought something that promised to eradicate dark circles might be a good idea! But so that I don’t ramble on and on I will pause to add this little product blurb from Cellnique themselves:
Hi, I'm Reliever. Dark Circle Reliever to be more precise and I have a mission possible: to lift away puffiness, reduce dark under eye circles and protect the delicate skin around your eyes against harmful environmental factors. What's my strategy? I'm using active ingredients to improve the blood circulation around the eye area and make sure your skin will feel nourished, rejuvenated and radiant. Heavy eyes, tired skin no more! Mission accomplished!
Diminishes dark circles + puffiness
• Diminishes dark circles
• Lifts away eye puffiness
• Offers hydration
• Non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic formulation
But what are these ‘active ingredients’ they talk about? Well firstly N-Hydroxysuccinimide (just how scary does that sound?!) activates the elimination of blood originated pigments responsible for the dark circle colour and local swelling. Then a dash of Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone, which helps reduce capillary permeability to prevent leakage that leads to dark bruise like discoloration dark circles. Dipeptide-2 helps smoothes the eye contours and reduces bagginess. Finally, equally scary sounding ingredient Palmitoyl Oligopeptide reinforces the elasticity of the skin and tones the eye area. To be honest, I can’t even pronounce half of those so that made me a tad wary but it is also sprinkled with Vitamin C and E which is of course a lot more understandable!
Ultimately however, does it work? Well I have been testing this product since June and the photo above is my eye with NO concealer, just lashings of mascara and eyeliner because I cannot be seen without either, I’m afraid! As you can see I have a teeny bit of discoloration in the inner corner but otherwise thanks to this little beauty, I have no need to apply any concealer day to day. So does this get rid of dark circles? Well for me, yes it did, very successfully. My eyes have improved so, so much since I have started to use this product and I still have loads left after using it since June like I said. I would hand on heart buy this again and again if I ever had problems again with dark circles. The only downside for me was that it didn’t do much to help with the eczema under my eye area which you can see very lightly on the photo above. I find Origins and LUSH eye creams both helped with this problem perfectly, and in general my eczema in this area has improved over the years, but basically I would just point out that this is not the best eye cream for moisturisation of the eye area, but if you have any discoloration, puffiness, dark circles, to be honest everything this products promises, I cannot fault it. And to be honest, it’s a bit unfair for me to say it’s not moisturising because Cellnique offer products specifically for this, and in general not many eye creams of this nature are intended to be too moisturising as it can make the eye area more puffy.
And that ends my little review, and I hope you have enjoyed reading if you have got this far! You can click here to see all the eye creams in the Cellnique eye care series which range from wrinkle erasers to moisturie eye masque which I have my eye on indeed (awful pun wasn’t intended!). If you’re interested in the particular eye cream I have reviewed you can click here. Oh and I cannot end this review before pointing out just how adorable the packaging is! Is it, or is it not, the cutest eye cream you ever did see? I am so in love, and it’s so sturdy and doesn’t look gimmicky at all!
So what’s your favourite eye cream? Has anyone ever tried this particular one? As always, let me knows your thoughts :).
