Favourites: January 2012

Wow, the first month of 2012 has already been and gone? How did this happen? Doesn’t seem any time ago since New Year’s Eve to be honest. This month like many others has been a kind of use- up what you have and no spend, so it’s actually good to see what I actually do use on a daily basis. Hope you enjoy my favourites for January, don’t forget to link yours below, or just leave them in the comments. Oh and I’m sorry about the not to great photos because I’m still mastering the new camera.

1. No.7 Airbrush Away Primer

So I think I completely missed the mad frenzy when this was first released, but I have been on the hunt for a new primer for a little while now, so I decided to get this one with my No.7 voucher. It’s aimed at erasing lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, pores and everything a primer should do. Well, large pores concerned it’s not a miracle worker, I’m not going to lie, but for giving skin an absolute flawless finish this wins hands.down. I am shocked just how flawless this leaves skin to be honest, it’s not even worth wearing anything over the top to be honest, so I’ve been wearing this with just a blusher and eye make up and I’m good to go. For £19.50 for 30ml it may be a little pricey to some, but I really do think it’s a great product.

2. LUSH Dream Cream

If I had to pick my all time favourite beauty product I think I would have to give the accolade to LUSH’s Dream Cream. It truly is a miracle worker, and it’s weird because I actually haven’t talked about it much on here but I’ve been using this for years and years and years, I mean ever since I was a teeny tiny thing and nothing beats it. I get through pots of the stuff in the winter when my eczema gets really bad and I’ve tried every lotion and potion and nothing other than this does the trick. I keep a small pot in my handbag and a big pot by my bed. It’s just a miracle worker to be honest.

3. My Weekly Planner

How on earth did a scatterbrain like me survive without a diary? Seriously, goodness knows! Disorganised might as well be my middle name, but this year I actually got myself a diary and I’m actually really enjoying having one. I think it was the lovely Milly who made me think about getting one, so I owe this one to her! I love the fact it has little stickers at the back, and pencils, rulers….all that kind of childish stuff that I shouldn’t love but do!

4. Company Magazine

I’ve been reading Company for years now and very recently it had a little makeover. Lots of people have raved about it so clearly it seems to have been an excellent move and I certainly agree. I love the sleek new size, paper and the more Teen Vogue/ Elle Girl esque vibe it has, whilst maintaining a very British edgy feel throughout. In love!

5. LUSH Vanilla Puff Powder

If you read my blog regularly you will know that I adore vanilla, but with that said I can be a bit picky, I have a thing for REAL vanilla, not the horrible artificial stuff. There’s simply nothing like real vanilla pods, and that’s exactly what you get in LUSH’s Vanilla Puff Powder. It’s the same scent as LUSH’s Vanillary and basically a gorgeous mix of Vanilla and Tonka. I use it all the time, and it’s so lovely. I leave it by my bedside table and it makes the whole room smell beautifully too!

6. OPI ‘A Ruby For Rudolph’

I am getting so boring with my nails at the moment because they are disgusting and I so I’ve just been rocking this all month because it’s a gorgeous no fuss red and goes with everything. Remind me all please to get into more spring like shades for february, okay? But I do adore this one. You may remember I did a NOTD for it back in 2009.

7. MAC Painterly Paint Pot

This is one of those make up products that looks so boring you’d wonder why any could find it becomes a favourite but I do seriously love this one. I’ve used this one for ages but I stopped using it for months last year, and when I got myself a new one this month, I realised how much I missed it. I love using it all over the eyelid and it conceals any imperfections on your eyelids and asks as a primer, unless you have veeeery oily lids. I’m been wearing this everyday with a 1950s cat liner flick and a dark lipstick and that’s pretty much my go to look at the moment. Sometimes paint pots are a nice alternative to actual primers because it makes it easier to blend colours in my opinion, and just opens up the eyes.

8. Jelly Pong Pong Wide Awake Palette

I got this in a goody bag at the Clothes Show and I’ve been loving it. It comes with a creamy highlighter and illuminating highlighter, plus mini tweezers and eyebrow shades. I’m actually really impressed with it, and I use the highlighter a lot. Kind of reminds me of the type of things Benefit does but a LOT cheaper!

9. Chandelier Bed Side Table Light

My bed side table light spectacularly broke the other day so I set about trying to find a new one, not really knowing where to start. I’m decorating my room at the moment so whilst I was at B&Q I found the above in the sale, and I got a ceiling light to go with it. So delicate and pretty, I love it so much. Oh and yes, see, Company and my planner really are my favourites! haha.

10. ‘Midnight City’ M83

So I think I said a few months ago that as well as beauty favourites and fashion bits that I want to include a few other favourites such as music and stuff, because at the end of the day, as much I try to, I cannot escape my muso roots! As soon as you lot click on that little triangle above then you are all going to be shouting at the screen, ‘MADE IN CHELSEEEEEA!’. Well yes, it is the theme tune, and I have to admit that’s how I found about them, but for some reason everyone has finally cottoned on to what an amazing tune this is! I mean Made in Chelsea has been around for a while now, right? Anyway I was beyond delighted when the lovely Greg James featured it as his next big thing or whatever it is called now, and I was so pleased that I texted in and he read it out. I hope they don’t charge for texts to Radio 1, but I was so blimmin’ pleased to hear it on the radio! haha.

Anyway that’s my favourites wrapped up for January, now it’s your turn!

xoxo

  2. Your weekly planner looks so pretty, it reminds me of all the really cute ones I saw when I last visited China. I brought a filofax a few years ago, and now can't imagine not having a diary, it's so useful to see your week at a glance x

  5. I agree about company magazine. Love the new paper and size :) I think I need to invest in a primer but I worry they will be too dark on my super pale skin - it sounds good if you didn't even have to wear foundation over the top! It found your blog and look forward to future posts. :) it's a follow from me! X
