Spot The Difference: Primark Vs. Miss Selfridge

652

My Mum and I have what seems to be identical scarves, but there are veeery slight differences. However, on a first glance, it would be VERY easy to confuse them for the very same thing. Now, we both know the difference, but can you tell the difference between the Miss Selfridge one, which was roughly £15 and purchased nearly a year ago now, or the Primark one, which cost £3 and that I purchased not long ago? So if you feel like a little end of week challenge, then let me introduce you to the scarves. Oh and yes I’m totally wearing my Squirrel Of Coolness Jumper, it inspired me to take these photos too, although I’m aware that it really doesn’t go! /lazybloggeralert!

Scarf A

Scarf A is an off cream shade with cameo detail, which is set in a pretty placing with a bow and crown. It is quite sheer and is a triangle shape so perfect to wear just around your neck, in your hair etc. But now let me introduce you to…

Scarf B

Scarf B is a slightly paler colour than scarf A. It’s more off white. It has the same cameo detail, but the crown is more pronounced, and is a slightly different shape.

On the left is a close up of scarf A, and on the right, a close up of scarf B.

But which is which?!

Any idea?

No, Yes?!

Okay enough teasing, I’ll tell you! So Scarf A is the Miss Selfridge one and Scarf B is the Primark one. But you know what?! They look exactly the same (unless of course you geekily analyse it like I have!), feel exactly the same, and the material is identical. But the price difference is a little insane. I mean £15 for a scarf isn’t unusual for Miss Selfridge, but when Primark release the same thing months later for £3 you have to wonder why Miss Selfridge charge such a significant difference. Now normally I’m not a Primark fan (don’t hate me!) but lately they have in a lot of nice things, and when I saw this scarf I had to get it. It wasn’t until I got home and my Mum said ‘why are you wearing my scarf'!’ that I realised how similar they were.

So there you go. I guess it just goes to show that the age old saying ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ is very apt here. Thoughts?! ♥

  1. Oh wow, I love this scarf! I love cameo things (I had an antique cameo ring for my 21st!) I have to get one. I haven't seen them in the Primark I work in though, which one did you get yours from? The Winchester store is only small.

  2. Such a pretty scarf! I can't believe how similar they are, definitely a good find! My local Primark is rubbish, it's just a big jumble sale and it never has nice accessories. I think I need to hunt down better ones in neighbouring towns! I've seen so many posts with really pretty Primark goodies lately :D

  9. @ Hayley- I love cameo things too! I actually got this scarf in Bristol. They have the most amazing Primark. Worth a visit!

@ Gemx- Yes so is mine! Sometimes it's worth visiting bigger places for the better Primark stores!

@ Laura- Oh me too lovely, me too! :D.

@ Hayley- I know, so, so bad!!!

@ Princess Livia- I think it was about 2 weeks ago now, but I'm sure they'd still be around. Definitely worth checking out :). Btw, lovely to 'see' you!
