SKIN LOVE: LUSH ‘Saving Face’ Serum Bar

002

I get asked quite a lot about my skincare routine, but like everyone else, it changes a lot and therefore I don’t know whether it would be worth doing a post on it, as it would never ever stay up to date. But there are certain products that come into my life that I cannot praise enough about, so I thought I should tell you all about it. So actually, I’ve changed this title from ‘review’ to ‘skin love’, because I already love it!

But what is that strange green oval thing?! Well, yeah, so it’s not going to win any awards for the prettiest skincare product out there, but you’ll be pleased to hear that this has zero packaging. I love LUSH for this. They could so easily have made a liquid serum, but everyone does that, and with it involves fancy packaging that ultimately ends up on a landfill. So this no frills approach means that more money is put into what goes in it, and it has a lovely jubbly ingredients list!

Illipe Butter (Shorea stenoptera), Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii), Kaolin, Fresh Organic Lime Juice (Citrus aurantifolia), Cold Pressed Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Fresh Thyme Infusion (Thymus zygis), Talc, Perfume, Lime Oil (Citrus aurantifolia), Grapefruit Oil (Citrus paradisi), Neroli Oil (Citrus Aurantium amara), *Citral, *Geraniol, *Farnesol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Chlorophyllin.

Gorgeous stuff there with thyme infusion to alleviate problems areas, grapefruit and lime oils tone and refresh the face by mopping up excess oils and illipe and shea butters moisturise the skin with natural goodness. Because the ingredients are so concentrated they will really enhance any other products you use with it. So you can for example use it before a face mask, or before, or in conjunction with your moisturiser.

This product was absolutely made for oily/combination skin. I have combination skin myself, and absolutely adore this. And why? Well because it clears out any breakouts over night, reduces redness, tightens pore, makes skin glow, and makes it kissably soft. It’s just amazing, really! LUSH also do another serum called ‘Saving Grace’, which is aimed more at drier/sensitive skin.

But I’m afraid the bad news…this is soon to be discontinued. In fact, it is already, LUSH are just selling it off now. I am SO sad about this, so I feel bad for praising it and then telling you this, but yeah, c’est la vie. LUSH always discontinue the best stuff, although I do hear this has had problems so hopefully *everything crossed* it will make a reappearance very, VERY soon.

As a lot of you know, I have worked at LUSH for many, many years, so if any of you ever need any skincare advice I have had really extensive training, so I would be happy to help. Just send me an email, or even Tweet me, that would be the quickest way to get a response.

If you want to read more about it, and see a demo (and my friend!) then click here. Is anyone else a LUSH serum fan?

xoxo

  1. I currently use the one for dry skin, and I love it. I think the idea of a Serum Bar is great, I do exactly what you suggested, I use it before my face masks and it works wonders. Why are they getting rid of 'Saving Face', what are they replacing it with? I would suggest this serum bar as well but not if LUSH doesn't have one for oily skin. So sad.

  2. It sounds lovely, such a shame they are discontinuing it! I have combination skin and it's annoying to find face products that don't make me really oily. I hope they replace it with something similar :)

  3. @ Diane- A lot of the time with LUSH if they can no longer source something, they have to discontinue and start again, so I'm thinking it's to do with this, but I'll find out for sure and let you all know. I'm so with you that they need one for dry skin and one for oily. The dry skin one is definitely not going to suit everyone. They need two. Very annoyiing! Let's just hope it comes back soon! Very soon!

@ Gemx- This would have been so perfect for you. You apply it at night, and in the morning it makes skin really matte. Was a very special product, I really hope they bring it back.

  5. @ Nude Obsession- Well it's officially discontinued, but some stores may still have some left, so it's definitely worth paying your local a visit and see if they have some. I hope you get a coupe!

  7. do you know of any product like the Lush saving face serum bar? I love Lush and hate it that my favorites keep going away ( serum, skin nanny)

  8. @ Julianne- This is what I heard too, but everyone I know within LUSH hasn't noticed so I'm confused :/.

@ Pammy- Have you tried the other LUSH serum? Because that's the only other solid serum I know of. I do hope they come back with it new and improved. Otherwise, I really love Origins serums, but unfortunately they're not solid.
