The SLS Free Hair Journey!

Hello lovelies! My page looks a little different, doesn't it? Don't be alarmed, I'm just changing things around here! Hopefully in the next few days it will look better than ever! Please just ignore how bad it currently looks, I'm on it! But anyway, moving on, I know I've been a little slack this week but I've been preparing for Uni. Well, trying to as I don't have my timetable yet, but I have a mammoth reading list to get through!

Anyway, today I want to post about a little mission I am embarking on. You all know that I'm a little bit of a health freak, but sometimes when I read something as 'natural' I unashamedly read no more into it than that. There is an ingredient however that causes much furore in the beauty world. And that one ingredient is Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, although you probably know it more commonly as SLS. What is it? Very simply, it is a strong and harsh detergent used widely in the industry as a degreaser and a powerful wetting and foaming agent. That's why if you go to Boots, Superdrug, or wherever, you'll find it in 9/10 products. What's so bad about it? Well it started life started as an industrial degreasant and garage floor cleaner, and is widely known as an irritant. It also has links to cancer and other nasty things, but I'm always highly dubious of throwing around those claims when as far as I know, nothing has been proven to suggest this is concrete truth.

I was really inspired by the posts made by Lipglossiping and Make Up Savvy, although I have always pondered an SLS free life. I went down to both Boots and Superdrug and was highly disappointed. I had literally no choice whatsoever but then found the Naked range. I had heard about this range for a long time before so got the following products to test out:
A review of all these products will be up soon but in the meantime, are you conscious about what is in your products, or do you not really care? Whatever your views, I'd love to know!

xoxo
