REVIEW & SWATCHES: Topshop Make Up Range

Evening girlies! So as you all know, yesterday Topshop launched their highly anticipated make up range! I ordered a few things that morning and to my absolute surprise they arrived today. Now that really is what I call fast postage!!! So I thought for those that wanted to see what the products looked like, I would swatch the goodies that I got, and give my views on them. Prepare for a whole ton of photos (click to make them bigger!), and a lot of my rambling!!!

So my goodies came wrapped in a little Topshop Make Up padded envelope which I thought was really cute, and I also got a free make up bag for being early to order. It's not that special to be honest...which is why I didn't bother to take a photo of it.
I also got a little leaflet/mini brochure thing for the collection. It just outlines the main collection and the limited edition collection. It also has some cute looks at the back using the range.
Gilt Glitter
So this is the first product I saw online that I really, really wanted. It's described as a Rose Pink online and I think that's pretty accurate. This is part of the limited edition Spring/Summer 2010 collection, and do you know what it reminded me of? Old school MAC pigments and glitters!!! No wonder somewhere along the line there's been a MAC influence to this range. As a comparison, here's a MAC old pigment packaging against the Topshop one:
SO similar, right? Expect the stars on the Topshop design make it infinitely cuter! I absolutely love this glitter. The antique Rose shade means it can be worn in a lot of different ways and for £6 it's a really nice glitter. Not chunky at all, just lovely, fine super sparkly glittery goodness! Here's a swatch for you, but of course, glitter is a nightmare to capture:
Cream Blusher- Flush I've heard nothing but good things about the cream blushers so absolutely knew that I had to get one. I decided on 'Flush' because it's described as a Rose colour, and I like a natural pinky peach blush. It really is so gorgeous, I'm so impressed. And at first, I didn't like the white packaging, (you may know I have a thing against it!) but this is super cute, and so Topshop. Here's what it looks like open:
As you can see, it comes out as a peachy/pink when swatched and is super pigmented! The gorgeous thing about this, and what I didn't realise, is that although it's a cream blush, it sets as a powder consistency. That's the best finish for a blush I always think. It looks so natural and stays put well. £6 well spent I think!

Kohl Pencil- Coal This probably isn't the most unique product from the collection, but I've been wanting a really creamy black eyeliner for a while, but didn't want to pay for a MAC one, as I mostly wear brown. This has really surprised me. It is super creamy, richly pigmented and stays put a while, but I've only had it a day! It really is a jet black, and that's what I wanted. Sometimes you get liners that claim they're black, but they're more grey. This is definitely very black! I think at £4 it's a bargain to be honest!

Metallic Crayon- Sunshower

So the last thing I picked out was this pretty metallic gold eye/cheeks crayon. There's no way I'll be using it on my cheeks, as it would look just plain wrong on my pale as anything skin, but it is super gorgeous on the eyes! Then again, it says on the website for face art, which sounds like something I'd do! And I know what you're thinking...aren't these just MAC shadesticks? Well kind of yes, and as you can see from the photos above, it looks pretty much the same! And I LOVE the packaging. This product is from the limited edition collection and it's so pretty, and look how pigmented it is! It glides on really smoothly and has a gorgeous metallic sheen. This is my new love, and only £7. But if you want it be quick, as it's limited.

Overall Thoughts:

From what I've tried so far, I'm truly, truly impressed by this range. The products are packaged well, and very Topshop, and the product quality is really good. The pigmentation as you can see above is very special for a high street collection, and I definitely wasn't expecting that. Overall, I think it's pitched at the right price, although I haven't checked out everything yet. The only thing I don't like is how it's only in a few stores, and that the swatches on the website are a little poor. Pretty much everything I got was sold to me through the video tutorials as I could actually see the colours better, so I hope they do more of that. In a few days hopefully I'll get some time to do some looks using the products, but until then, what are you thinking so far? Got anything, or not bothering? Let me know below lovelies! I'm off to watch the live election results!
