NOTD: Nubar 'Lemon Sorbet' Nail Lacquer

As some of you may know, for a while now I have been have searching for the perfect pastel lemon shade. I thought there would be tons of brands and shades out there but nope, that doesn't seem to be the case at all! So I first started with the Barry M shade in 'Lemon Ice Cream', but it really disappointed me, and it wasn't anything like the pastel shade I was after. My lovely readers commented with some our their recommendations, and I've written them all down so I can go check them out. Whilst I was doing that though, I realised I already had this Nubar shade on order, which happened to be a pastel Lemon colour. It's as if the Barry M shade and I were not meant to be ;).

So above is Nubar's take on the pastel lemon nail trend. Rather than ice cream, they've named it 'Lemon Sorbet', but I'm sure both brands are after the same effect. So sorry about the sloppy application, just as I was applying it I was being called to help out with some errands! Is anyone else always interrupted when they've just sat down to do their nails?! Anyway, rambling aside, I'm excited to tell you all that I've finally found my perfect pastel lemon shade! Well, at least, I think, because I still want to take a look at the competition from China Glaze and Models Own. But I love this shade so much! The application is a million times easier, and the colouring is JUST what I was looking for. Gorgeously creamy and light. I can see myself wearing this colour a lot. Perfect! I guess the only downside is that it's a lot expensive than Barry M (which is £2.95 against Nubar's £8...but I got mine for about £6 with a 20% voucher code from LOOK magazine), but I'm a) getting the colour I've been after and b) getting a better application. So worth the extra really to me.

Here's the shade in a slightly different lighting, but as you can still see, gorgeously soft, and creamy:
And here is Nubar's bottle against the Barry M 'Lemon Ice Cream' #307 shade. See how yellow the Barry M one looks? You can see how much more pastel and paler the Nubar one is in comparison.
So what do you lovely lot think of this shade? Or do you hate lemon nail polishes? Go on, don't worry, I won't be offended....promise ;). I would definitely recommend this shade if you like me you're on the hunt for a lovely pastel lemon shade.

xoxo

  2. I think it looks lovely on you - not sure it'd suit my colouring but it's a lovely summery colour!

I bought a couple of Barry M nail varnishes at the weekend and currently have the mint green one from the pastel range on my nails. I'm absolutely rubbish with nail varnish but I actually found it quite good to apply (I know you had trouble with the yellow one!) and it's lasted really well. I discovered that the trick is two or three really, really thin coats with plenty of drying time in between. I bought a bright pink one as well (they were 2 for £5 in Boots) and I can't wait to try that out!

  4. This one looks good on you! I'm quite apprehensive about using yellow on myself as I don't know if it would look good for my skintone. BUT I do have one pastel yellow in my drawer, waiting patiently to be painted on my nails. :D
